Transportation Safety Board of Canada is assessing an Antarctica plane crash

Gatineau, Quebec, 26 January 2013 – The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is assessing an accident involving a de Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft, registration C-GKBC, operated by Kenn Borek Air Ltd. The aircraft was on a flight from South Pole Station, Antarctica, to Terra Nova Bay, Antarctica, with a crew of three on board. The wreckage was found on 25 January 2013, at 11:45 p.m. Mountain Standard Time, by the Search and Rescue team near Mount Elizabeth, Antarctica.

TSB has jurisdiction to investigate this accident. TSB is currently working with all agencies involved to assess whether to investigate.
