Investigation report: Fatal accident during ground handling operations on Akimiski Island, Nunavut
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) released its investigation report (A24O0048) into the April 21, 2024 accident involving a Aerospatiale AS-350 BA helicopter on Akimiski Island, Nunavut, where a passenger was struck by the spinning tail rotor and was fatally injured during ground handling operations.
The TSB conducted a limited-scope, class 4 investigation into this occurrence to advance transportation safety through greater awareness of potential safety issues. See the Policy on Occurrence Classification for more information.
