Deployment notice

TSB is deploying a team of investigators following an accident involving an aircraft near Washington, DC

Gatineau, Quebec,  — 

Pursuant to international agreements, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has deployed two investigators to support the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) in their investigation into the 29 January 2025 crash involving a CRJ700 aircraft near Washington, DC, USA.

As per Annex 13 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation, information on the progress and the findings of the investigation cannot be publicly released without the express consent of the NTSB. In keeping with this convention, the TSB will not be able to comment on the investigation.


The TSB is an independent agency that investigates air, marine, pipeline, and rail transportation occurrences. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.
