On 28 June 2025, a Canadian National Railway Company (CN) freight train was travelling east on the Fort Frances Subdivision when it experienced a train-initiated emergency air brake application near Devlin, Ontario.
As a result, the last 13 loaded grain hopper cars at the tail end derailed. Most of the derailed cars were extensively damaged and released their product. No dangerous goods were involved, and no injuries were reported. The TSB is investigating.

The occurrence
On 18 May 2025, a Canadian National Railway Company (CN) freight train was proceeding west from single track to double track at Mile 140.1 of the Edson Subdivision, Alberta.
At the same time, another CN train proceeding east was approaching the same location where the double track merges into single track. The eastbound train failed to stop, passing Signal 1402S displaying a Stop indication, and subsequently collided with the side of the westbound train.
