Investigation report: Collision with terrain near Grande Cache, Alberta

Edmonton, Alberta,  — 

Today, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) released its investigation report (A23W0100) into the 25 August 2023 collision with terrain involving a Robinson Helicopter Company R44 II operated by Synergy Aviation Ltd., near Grande Cache, Alberta.

The TSB conducted a limited-scope, class 4 investigation into this occurrence to advance transportation safety through greater awareness of potential safety issues. See the Policy on Occurrence Classification for more information.


The TSB is an independent agency that investigates air, marine, pipeline, and rail transportation occurrences. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.
