Investigation report: Fatal seaplane accident in Warner Bay, British Columbia

Richmond, British Columbia,  — 

Today, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) released its investigation report (A24P0107) into the October 2024 loss of control and collision with water involving a float-equipped Cessna A185F aircraft, operated by Wilderness Seaplanes Ltd., in Warner Bay, British Columbia. The accident resulted in one fatality.

The TSB conducted a limited-scope, class 4 investigation into this occurrence to advance transportation safety through greater awareness of potential safety issues. See the Policy on Occurrence Classification for more information.


The TSB is an independent agency that investigates air, marine, pipeline, and rail transportation occurrences. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.
