Investigation report: Main-track derailment near Devlin, Ontario
Today, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) released its investigation report (R25W0047) into a June 28, 2025 main-track derailment involving a Canadian National Railway Company freight train near Devlin, Ontario.
The TSB conducted a limited-scope, class 4 investigation into this occurrence to advance transportation safety through greater awareness of potential safety issues. See the Policy on Occurrence Classification for more information.
The TSB is an independent agency that investigates air, marine, pipeline, and rail transportation occurrences. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.
